An Easterling and ally of Morgoth during the First Age. After Morgoth's capture of the land of Hithlum, Brodda became a chieftain within its southern borders.

Brodda is never explicitly connected with the followers of Uldor. In the tale of Túrin Turambar, however, the exiled Túrin makes a reference to the Incomers who had occupied his homeland of Dor-lómin (which would have included Brodda) referring to them as the people of Uldor.

As an Easterling, Brodda's name would not in principle have derived from any of the familiar languages of Beleriand, whether Elvish or Mannish. The name is never explained, though it might conceivably have been inspired by Old Norse broddr, meaning a 'spike', 'dart' or 'arrow'.
