Hidden Realm

Turgon’s secret land

Map of the Hidden Realm

A name for the hidden valley of Tumladen and especially the famous city of Gondolin that stood in that valley, hidden from friend and foe alike behind the Encircling Mountains. Turgon led his people to the Hidden Realm from their former homes in Nevrast, and they remained there in secret for centuries. When at last they emerged, it was to fight in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, but after the loss of that great battle, the Gondolindrim retreated again to their Hidden City behind its mountain walls. At last Morgoth discovered them through the treachery of Maeglin, and Gondolin fell, the last of the Elf-realms of Beleriand to be destroyed.
