In Elvish, -ya was a possessive ending that could be used to make a name or word more familial in tone. For example, the word atarinya meant 'my father', while onya meant 'my child'. The same ending could also be attached to personal names, and we see an example of this in Anardilya, which literally means 'my Anardil'. Anardil was the birth-name of Aldarion, who was the heir to Tar-Meneldur of Númenor, and grandson to the great mariner Vëantur. Our sole record of the name Anardilya being used was by Anardil's grandfather towards his young grandson, but in principle the suffix -ya could be added to any other name as a form of endearment.
