Ruby Gamgee

The youngest of Sam Gamgee’s daughters

Samwise Gamgee and Rose Cotton had a total of thirteen children. Of these Ruby was the eleventh, and the youngest of their six daughters. She was born in the year 1438 by the Shire-reckoning, nineteen years after the victory of the War of the Ring. Raised at Bag End, she grew up in a time when her father remained Mayor of the Shire for many years. Mayor Samwise had close ties with King Elessar. It is possible, then, that Ruby encountered Aragorn or other members of the Company of the Ring (her elder sister Elanor was a maid of honour to Queen Arwen) but no specific details of Ruby's later life are recorded.
