Nibin-noeg

A name for the Petty-dwarves

One of various names for the stunted people known more commonly as the Noegyth Nibin or Petty-dwarves. At one time they seem to have been quite populous in the western regions of Beleriand, but they dwindled in numbers, and became extinct before the end of the First Age. The name 'Nibin-noeg' in fact only survives as part of two old names. The first of these, Bar-en-Nibin-noeg, was the original name of their dwelling within Amon Rûdh, which was later renamed Bar-en-Danwedh. 'Nibin-noeg' is also found in the term 'Moors of the Nibin-noeg', referring to the higher lands between the valleys of Sirion and Narog, among which Amon Rûdh stood.
