The location of Coron Oiollairë (conjectural)
A name for the Green Mound that stood before the western gates of Valmar, the city of the Valar in Aman. It was on this mound that the Two Trees of Valinor, Telperion and Laurelin, came into being, and shed their brilliant silver and gold Light across the land of the Valar. Though the Light of the Trees waxed and waned, there was never night in Valinor, and so the mound on which the Trees stood gained the Elvish name of Coron Oiolaire, 'mound of ever-summer'. This is a rare form, and the Green Mound was more usually called Corollairë (itself apparently a contracted form of Coron Oiolairë) or Ezellohar.
Despite the promise of endless summer within the name, in fact the Light of the Two Trees did eventually come to an end. Soon after Melkor's release from imprisonment by the Valar, he fled from their land, and later returned with Ungoliant to wreak his revenge. Coming to the Green Mound, they destroyed both of the Trees, causing darkness to fall on Valinor and the time of 'ever-summer' to come to a sudden and untimely end.
