Ar-InziladûnTar-Palantir’s original Adûnaic name
The name of the twenty-fourth ruler of Númenor, Heir to Ar-Gimilzôr, in his native Adûnaic language. For historical reasons, the name - which means 'Flower of the West' - was rarely used in practice. Until this King's time, it had been the tradition for several generations to take a royal name in the native Númenórean language, but Inziladûn reversed this, and returned to the older convention of using the Quenya language. He renamed himself Tar-Palantir, 'The Farsighted', and under his rule the realm of Númenor returned to its ancient and noble traditions, at least for a time. Notes
