Durin I the Deathless Durin III Durin VI Náin I Thráin I Thorin I Glóin Óin Náin II Dáin I Thrór Thráin II Thorin II Oakenshield Dáin II Ironfoot Thorin III Durin VII
King of Durin's Folk in exile, the son of Thrór and father of Thorin II Oakenshield . He escaped Erebor when Smaug descended upon it, but later wandered Middle-earth seeking to return there; he was captured by Sauron and died in the pits of Dol Guldur .
Notes
1
Tolkien doesn't give more than brief notes on the pronunciation of Dwarf names, and certainly nothing that would help with 'Thráin'. The use of a long á suggests that something like 'thrawin' might be a possibility, but given the lack of direct evidence, the more natural 'thrayn' is as good an alternative as any.
