A nobleman of Númenor’s early history

A descendant of the royal line of Númenor, the grandson of Tar-Meneldur and nephew of Tar-Aldarion. He lived during the later years of the first millennium of the Second Age.

There is no doubt that Soronto's name contains the word soron, 'Eagle', but the -to ending is unusual and hard to interpret. It seems to simply be a masculine name-ending, though this is difficult to establish with certainty.
