The beech-forest on the banks of the River Esgalduin that formed the northern and lesser part of the kingdom of Doriath.

1	The Elvish word neldor literally means 'three-tree', a reference to the famous three-trunked beech tree Hírilorn, which gave its name to all other trees of its kind.
