One of the many and varied titles applied to the most powerful and dangerous of the slaves of the Nine Rings, the chief servant of Sauron. He was a potent Sorcerer, but his name and the history of his early life are unknown. Bound by a Ring of Power granted by Sauron, he fought for the Dark Lord over a period stretching across more than four thousand years. For much of the early Third Age, he was the Witch-king of Angmar, and it was he who oversaw the destruction of the last remnant of the North-kingdom of the Dúnedain. He met his final fate on the Fields of the Pelennor in the last great battle of the Third Age.
