The fourth child and youngest son of Balbo Baggins and Berylla Boffin, the earliest known members of the Baggins family. Largo was born in the year III 2820 (or 1220 by the Shire-reckoning), almost exactly two centuries before the War of the Ring. Largo married Tanta Hornblower and had just one recorded son, Fosco, through whom Largo was one of Frodo Baggins' great-grandfathers. In fact Largo died long before Frodo was born, but he did live long enough to know another of his famous Baggins relatives. His great-nephew Bilbo Baggins (the grandson of Largo's eldest brother Mungo) was born in III 2890 (SR 1290), when Largo would have been seventy years old.
It is perhaps notable that Largo died in the year III 2912 (or 1312), a date shared with his younger sister Lily. This was the year after the Fell Winter, which we know brought great hardship to the Hobbits of the Shire, and which was followed by a time of dreadful scarcity. The coincidence of dates here implies that both Largo and Lily fell victim to the last months of the Fell Winter's cold, or to its dire aftermath.
