Said to be without meaning in its full form, but the abbreviated Kali meant 'jolly, gay' (and is therefore directly comparable with the translation 'Merry' as an abbreviation of 'Meriadoc')
All the members of Kalimac's (or Merry's) family would have had equivalent Hobbit-names, but for the most part these are unknown. His father would have had the surname Brandagamba (translated 'Brandybuck') but the original form of his given name 'Saradoc' is not recorded.
