An heir of the Royal House of Gondor, originally named Vinyarion. He became King when his father Aldamir was slain by the Haradrim, an act that he avenged in the eleventh year of his reign, when he achieved a great victory over the Men of Harad. After that time, he took the name Hyarmendacil ('South-victor') and ruled under the name of Hyarmendacil II. He was succeeded as King by his son Minardil.
