The castle that stood in the Deeping-coomb in northern Rohan, and guarded the entrance to Helm's Deep.
Notes
1 |
The timeline for this entry shows the period when this fortress was known as the Hornburg, a period which encompasses the last centuries of the Third Age. The fortress itself was far older, and had stood for nearly three thousand years before Helm's time.

We don't have a specific name used for the Hornburg before the coming of the Rohirrim. References to it before that time simply use the name 'fortress of Aglarond'.
