The Hill of Slain in Anfauglith (somewhat conjectural)1

After his victory in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, Morgoth sent his Orcs to gather the bodies and gear of his fallen foes in a great mound on the ashen plains of Anfauglith. That high mound was known to the Elves as Haudh-en-Ndengin, translated 'Hill of Slain', and also Haudh-en-Nirnaeth, 'Hill of Tears'. In the desolate wasteland of the Gasping Dust, it was the only place where green plants, and especially grass, would grow.

Notes

1

We have only limited detail about the northern parts of Anfauglith, and only a handful of textual clues to the location of the Hill of Slain. We know that the Hill was eastward of Hithlum, and in the central regions of the desert of Anfauglith, but beyond that, the map shown here is necessarily speculative.
