HatholdirA descendant of the House of Hador
A Man of noble birth, Hatholdir was a Númenórean who could claim descent from the House of Hador of the First Age. He lived during the first millennium of Númenor's history, and though we have no specific dates for him, he seems to have been born in the sixth century of the Second Age. Hatholdir was close in friendship with Meneldur, the son of King Tar-Elendil, and indeed Hatholdir's son Orchaldor wed Meneldur's daughter Ailinel. Meneldur went on to succeed his royal father as King Tar-Meneldur, meaning that Hatholdir's descendants in turn became part of the royal line. Indeed, Tar-Meneldur's son Aldarion produced only a single daughter, and by Númenor's original patrilineal laws of royal inheritance, this would have made Hatholdir's grandson Soronto the heir to the Kingship. Those laws were changed, however, so that Aldarion's daughter Ancalimë would go on to become the first Ruling Queen in place of Hatholdir's descendant. Notes
