Meaning
'Shining black'
|
The shining black metal devised by master craftsman Eöl, who learned his skill from the Dwarves of the Blue Mountains. Galvorn was said to be as hard as Dwarf-steel, while remaining supple and malleable. Eöl made himself a suit of black armour from this metal, which he wore whenever he left his woodland home in the depths of Nan Elmoth. The name galvorn comes from two Elvish words meaning 'shining' and 'black'. Notes
