We know almost nothing about Elemmírë's life (indeed, we cannot even be sure whether they were male or female) other than the fact that they belonged to the Vanyar. That people travelled to Valinor on the Great Journey and never returned to Middle-earth, so they either made that journey themselves, or they were born in the Blessed Realm during the Years of the Trees. They would have remained there among their people, and given the immortal lifespans of the Elves, they presumably remain there still.

The roots behind Elemmírë's name translate as 'star jewel', but the reason behind the name is not explained. There may be a connection with an earlier use of name Elemmírë for a light in the sky created by Varda (which some sources apparently identify with the planet Mercury). Elemmírë might, then, have been named for the faint shimmering light in the evening and morning sky, or their name might carry the simple literal meaning 'star jewel'.
