The son and heir of Arvegil, whom he succeeded to become the twelfth King of Arthedain. During Arveleg's reign, Arthedain stood alone against Angmar, with both Cardolan and Rhudaur under the influence of the Witch-king, though we have no records of any major battles during this time.
Arveleg II ruled Arthedain for seventy years, and was succeeded by his son Araval.
Notes
1
The date of Arveleg's birth appears only in The History of Middle-earth volume XII, The Peoples of Middle-earth. It cannot therefore be considered completely reliable.
2
Arveleg II was presumably named for his great-great-grandfather Arveleg I, who died in the defence of Weathertop.
