On one occasion1 the craftsman Celebrimbor refers Galadriel's spouse Celeborn as 'Celeborn of the Trees'. The reasons behind this choice of title remain obscure, and it never reappears or gains an explanation. In general, a capitalised use of 'Trees' is intended as a reference to the Two Trees of Valinor, but it is hard to see how that might apply to Celeborn (who in most histories had never even seen the Two Trees). Perhaps the most likely association is with the great forests of Doriath where (at least in most versions of his story) Celeborn was raised, though it is far from clear whether this was truly the intended meaning.
