Platforms built by the Elves of Lórien in the trees of that land, used mainly as guard-posts or for ceremonial purposes, but common in the city of Caras Galadhon.
Notes
1 |
The appearance of the first telain is related to the occupation of Dol Guldur by Sauron in about III 1050. After this time, Lórien found itself facing a dreadful enemy directly across the Great River, and the first telain appeared as watch-posts in response to this development. They later came to be used more widely, with Amroth being recorded as dwelling on a talan, and they became especially common in the city of Caras Galadhon.
