The third child, and only daughter, of Sadoc Brandybuck, and so a granddaughter of Gormadoc, the Master of Buckland who expanded Brandy Hall. Salvia married Gundabald Bolger, and they had a son named Theobald. Salvia's grandson was Wilibald Bolger, who married into the Baggins family tree when he wedded Prisca Baggins.

Salvia is a name given to a large genus of flowering herbs, which includes both sage and rosemary. The name comes ultimately from a Latin root relating to health and wellbeing, because plants of this kind were thought to have medicinal properties.
