About this entry:
A short-lived family of the Shire-hobbits, formed by the marriage of Longo Baggins to Camellia Sackville. It came to an end with the death of Longo's grandson Lotho in the War of the Ring.

The Baggins family was generally associated with Hobbiton, but it's not entirely clear whether the Sackville-Baggins branch in particular had originally lived there. We do, however, have a hint among the reasons suggested for Frodo's moving away from Hobbiton to Buckland. One rumoured reason was to move as far from the Sackville-Bagginses as he could, which implies that they lived relatively close to Bag End. As a result of Frodo's move, Bag End became the property of Lobelia Sackville-Baggins and her son Lotho, so we can at least place the Sackville-Bagginses in Hobbiton from the year III 3018.
