Orc-liquor

A potion of the Orcs

A brew that served the Orcs in much the same way that miruvor was used by the Elves and their allies: it granted renewed energy and strength to those who drank it. Nothing is known of the origins or contents of the Orc-liquor, but drinking it was said to cause a burning sensation, after which a feeling of heat spread through the body.

Notes

1

The origins and history of the Orc-liquor are almost entirely unknown. After the capture of Merry and Pippin, it was administered by Uglúk, an Uruk in the service of Isengard, and so it was clearly known among the Orcs who served Saruman. Indeed, it is conceivable that it was Saruman who invented the liquor (he had visited Rivendell in the past and doubtless knew about the Cordial of Imladris). However, the Orc-liquor might equally have been an ancient and traditional brew known to all the Orcs, and quite possibly dating back to their wars in the First Age.
