One of the many varieties of tree that was found in Nísimaldar, the land of the Fragrant Trees around the western Númenórean haven of Eldalondë. It was brought to Númenor as gift by the Eldar of Eressëa; it never grew in Middle-earth, and so it was lost in the Downfall of Númenor. The name Nessamelda probably means 'beloved of Nessa', in reference to the Vala Nessa, though as Nessa's name (at least according to one source) means 'young', Nessamelda can be literally translated as 'young-beloved'.
