There are various competing histories of the river name 'Limlight', and one of these gives the original Sindarin name as Limlich, meaning 'swift-light'. When the Rohirrim settled in Calenardhon, this river formed their new northern border, and they gave it a name in their own language, adopting the sounds of the original name to form Limliht.
