Hills of Evendim

The twilight hills above Annúminas

Map of the Hills of Evendim

The hills above Lake Nenuial in the north of Middle-earth, called by the Elves Emyn Uial. They overlooked the ancient Arnorian capital of Annúminas.

Notes

1

'Evendim' is a word composed of English elements, as a poetic translation of the Elvish name aduial, literally meaning 'second twilight'. The first element comes ultimately from Old English æfen (the source of modern English 'evening'), so an initial long 'e' sound is not unlikely.
