Elfstone

The Elessar

The name given to two green stones, one made in the First Age, and the other in the Second Age. The first of these was created in Gondolin and passed into the West with Eärendil, while the later Elfstone was made in Eregion and remained in Middle-earth. At the end of the Third Age this second green stone was given to Aragorn by Galadriel in Lórien, and was the origin of his surname, Elessar.
