A land extending southward from the wooded southern slopes of Ered Wethrin, beyond the Mountains of Shadow from Dor-lómin and Nevrast. This land, surrounding the sources of the rivers Ginglith and Narog, became the northern frontier of Nargothrond during its last years (the 'debatable' part of its name presumably refers to conflicts with the forces of Morgoth, who marauded through the surrounding lands at this time). The name is rare; it is in fact only used once, and then given in quotation marks, implying that it represents a translation of an unrecorded Elvish term for the region.
