Cormarë

The festival of Frodo’s birthday

A feast-day in the New Reckoning, the calendar introduced in the Reunited Kingdom in III 3019 with the accession of the new King Aragorn Elessar. The day corresponded to Yavannië 30 (the end of September, in modern terms), which fell on the same day as Frodo's (and Bilbo's) birthday. There was a festival held on this day each year to commemorate the deeds of Frodo the Ring-bearer, and the day was named Cormarë, 'Ringday', in his honour. Every four years, the need for a leap year was accommodated by extending the festival to last for two days.
