The earliest recorded member of the Bracegirdle family of Hardbottle, Blanco married Primrose Boffin, and had two children. The eldest of these was a son, Bruno, who founded his own line, while the younger child was a daughter, Lobelia. Lobelia married Otho Sackville-Baggins, and thus became important in the Baggins clan of Hobbiton. Eventually she succeeded in buying and occupying Bag End, after Frodo Baggins moved away into the east, supposedly to Crickhollow in Buckland.
Notes
1 |
We have no definite dating for Blanco's life, but we do know that his wife Primrose Boffin was born in III 2865 (S.R. 1265), so it's safe to assume that Blanco would have been born fairly close to that date. |

More than 1,200 years before Blanco Bracegirdle's time, the Shire was founded by two brothers named Marcho and Blanco, and given the fame of these two it seems all but certain that Blanco Bracegirdle was named after Blanco the founder of the Shire. The name 'Blanco' comes from Old English blanca, meaning a grey horse.
