With Tom and Bill, one of the three Trolls that captured Bilbo and the Dwarves during their eastward journey.

It seems unlikely that three Trolls would have rustic English names like 'Bert', 'Tom' and 'Bill Huggins'. It is probably safe to assume that Tolkien has followed the practice of modernising the Trolls' original names into forms understandable to his readers (as he commonly did with Hobbit-names, for example). If so, it follows that Bert and his fellow Trolls must have had quite different 'true' names, but we have no account of what those names might have been.
