"Elen síla lúmenn' omentielvo, a star shines on the hour of our meeting..."
A name for the ancient Elvish language properly known as Quenya, which was spoken in the West by the Vanyar and the Noldor. It returned to Middle-earth with the Noldor, but King Thingol (whose people spoke the Sindarin tongue) forbade its use in his realms. Thus in Middle-earth the Ancient Speech was rarely used as a living tongue, but was rather the province of scholars and historians.
