Turnips

Root vegetables that seem to have formed part of the diet of the Hobbits of the Shire. They were well known to Sam Gamgee the gardener, and Farmer Maggot, for one, was known to grow turnips on his farm at Bamfurlong in the Marish region of the Shire.
