A hardy coniferous tree with needle-like leaves, growing dark berry-like seed cases. Juniper was one of many varieties of trees and shrubs observed by Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee as they journeyed southwards, growing in profusion beside the road that ran through Ithilien. In that land juniper was found in abundance alongside numerous other herbs, shrubs and trees: myrtle, thyme, sage and many, many others beside.
