The last of the six long seasons that made up the year in the calendars of the Elves. Called Echuir in Sindarin, both names translate as 'stirring' or 'awakening' and refer to the earliest days of Spring. Coirë covered a total of fifty-four days, running from the end of winter (Hrívë), or from 1 February to 26 March on a modern calendar. It was followed by a day known as Mettarë, the last day of the year that belonged to no season, and then the Elves' year would begin again with the first day of the new year, Yestarë.
