One of the many names Treebeard gave to the Forest of Fangorn. Ambaróna was an ancient name, referring back to the time when forests filled Eriador, and trees stretched from the foothills of Ered Luin east to the Misty Mountains. In those times, Fangorn was merely the easternmost part (the 'East End', in Treebeard's words1) of that immense forest, and the name Ambaróna (meaning 'eastern land' or 'towards the sunrise') signifies this.
