NotesA pale yellow main sequence star, Xi Ophiuchi shines with a luminosity nearly five times greater than that of the Sun. It has an orbiting companion, a much fainter ninth-magnitude star designated Xi Ophiuchi B. A third apparent member of the system, Xi Ophiuchi C, is an optical companion that lies on a close line of sight to the main binary system.

An orange binary star that shines in one of the brightest areas of the Milky Way. It is relatively close to Earth's Solar System, at a distance of some 57 light years.
