The star near the eastern (left-hand) edge of this image is HR 2594, an orangestar like Tau Puppis, but considerably less luminous. The two stars lie at relatively similar distances from the Sun, but Tau Puppis outshines its fainter neighbour by a factor of more than twenty. Imagery provided by Aladin sky atlas
