March / April (Usually visible from southern latitudes)
Lambda Muscae's near-neighbour in the sky is Mu Muscae. The two stars lie just sixteen arcminutes apart as seen from Earth, but are actually widely separated in space. Mu Muscae is an orangegiant more than three times farther from the Sun than white Lambda Muscae, and some four times as luminous, though it appears fainter in this image because of its great distance.
