Algedi is the formal name of the star traditionally described as Algedi Secunda, the brighter and more easterly of the pair of Alpha stars in Capricornus (the other being Algedi Prima). Though these two yellowstars appear relatively similar and close together in the sky, actually Algedi Prima is a much more luminoussupergiant nearly six times farther from the Sun than Algedi Secunda.
