This orangegiantstar lies near the tip of Hydra's tail in the sky, as it snakes eastward towards brilliantAntares in Scorpius. 50 Hydrae emits some thirty-five times more light than the Sun, but at a distance of more than 200 light years it is barely visible to the naked eye.
