The faded remnant of the Lupus Supernova is not detectable in visible light. Choose 'XMM PN colored' from the menu to see false-colour image from the XMM-Newton space observatory providing an X-ray view the expanding supernova remnant. In the thousand years its original brilliant eruption on 30 April 1006, the dark remnant has grown to encompass a region of space approximately sixty light years in diameter.
