The molecular cloud of Lupus II is not easily detectable in visible light, but in his infrared view of the area northwestward of the star Cerberus, the structure of the cloud Lupus II is revealed. Imagery provided by Aladin sky atlas


* The distance to this cloud is not well established. The figure of a little over five hundred light years given here is based on the parallax of the apparently associated star RU Lupi, but some sources suggest that Lupus II may in fact be considerably more distant than this suggests, potentially placing it more than a thousand light years from the Solar System.
