Notes	This elliptical galaxy forms part of its own small galaxy group, the NGC 4697 Group. The group contains several dwarf galaxies, but the only other significant member is NGC 4731, a barred spiral that lies to the southeast of C52. This small group forms an offshoot of the immense Virgo Cluster, the main body of which lies to the north.
