A short-periodcomet with an orbit that carries it outside the plane of the Solar System, travelling out as far as the orbit of Saturn before returning to its perihelion in a period approaching fourteen years. The comet's nucleus is a contact binary, a pair of bodies held in contact with one another by their mutual gravity.
