NotesArtemis is a C-type or carbonaceous asteroid that orbits the Sun within the inner region of the Asteroid Belt. Unlike most asteroids, its strongly inclined orbit carries it far outside the plane of the Solar System.

Named for the Greek goddess of the hunt, Artemis pursues a course beyond the orbit of Mars. Artemis follows a highly inclined orbit falling between that of Mars and the inner parts of the true Asteroid Belt.
