NotesThis immensely distant Kuiper Belt object is notable as being binary in nature. It possesses a satellite designated S/2007 (148780) 1 which, with an estimated diameter of some 140 kilometres, is very nearly as large as Altjira itself. The two bodies orbit a common centre of gravity at a distance of some 9,900 km from one another.
