February / March (Usually visible from northern latitudes)
The glow on the southern edge of this image comes from the star Theta Ursae Majoris, a near neighbour of 26 Ursae Majoris in the sky. 26 Ursae Majoris is actually the more luminous of the two stars, but is also considerably farther from the Sun, so it appears to be outshone by its neighbour as seen from Earth.
